Before Stanton Lanier became known as a pianist, he was a chemist and then a financial planner; however, by November, 2009, he had recorded six albums!

Stanton grew up in Chapel Hill, N.C., where he began studying the piano at age 6. Basketball and baseball tempted him to quit in middle school, but his parents would not permit that. He went on to write his first song at 14 and continued writing while studying chemistry at Georgia Tech. He then went on to earn an MBA from the University of Georgia.

A growing longing to hear the voice of God, however, eventually, caused Stanton’s career change. Most of his music is based on artistic interpretations of ancient Scriptures.

Stanton founded Music To Light The World in 2004. The organization’s purpose is “to offer peace to the soul through scripture inspired piano. This organization brings peace, hope and healing to many who need it most through donating CDs and performances to groups such as cancer patients, families who have lost children to cancer, hospitals and inner city ministries. Get Music, Give Hope is an initiative where, for every album purchased, Music to Light the World donates one album to a cancer center or hospital (over 20,000 CDs have been donated since November 2009).”

Stanton lives in Atlanta with his wife and two children, and enjoys sports and cooking. One of his favorite quotes is “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive”. (Last.fm)
